Advisor Marketplace
Learn how to find cooperative attorneys, accountants, and consultants, review their profiles, and send a consultation request by email.
The Cooperative Advisor Directory
Operating a cooperative requires advice. The Advisor Marketplace lists lawyers, tax CPAs, and consultants who work with cooperative models, so you can find the right professional and get in touch.
1. Finding Professionals
Go to Network & Market > Advisor Marketplace. Search by name, firm, or specialty, and filter by category:
- Attorneys: Law and regulatory counsel, such as state cooperative law, bylaws drafting, LLC conversions, and securities exemptions.
- Accountants (CPA): Tax advisory, such as Subchapter T accounting, 1099-PATR filings, and general ledger setups.
- Cooperative Consultants: Democratic governance training, mediation, and facilitation of organizational meetings.
Advisors marked as verified are listed first. Ratings and verification are directory information only; do your own due diligence before engaging anyone.
2. Requesting a Consultation
Open an advisor's card to view their bio, location, years of experience, hourly rate, and contact details. Select "Request Consultation" and add an optional note. OwnFold emails your request to the advisor with your email address as the reply-to, so they respond to you directly. If an advisor has no email on file, OwnFold support forwards the request. No documents are shared automatically; send drafts to the advisor yourself once you've agreed to work together.
3. Request History
Each consultation request is recorded in your workspace's audit log, giving you a history of the professionals your co-op has contacted.
