Gig Dispatcher
Learn how platform cooperatives dispatch gigs to members, record completed jobs with a transparent fee split, and log member payouts.
Gig Dispatch & Member Payouts
Platform cooperatives (digital gig networks owned by rideshare drivers, delivery couriers, or translation professionals) keep the platform's fee inside the cooperative instead of sending it to an outside company. The Gig Dispatch Board (shown for platform / gig cooperatives) records each job, splits the fare transparently, and tracks what each member is owed.
1. Dispatching Gigs
A dispatcher with operations access creates each gig:
- Gig Details: Enter the customer name and fare, and assign the gig to a member.
- Job Status: Gigs move from Pending to Completed to Paid as the work is done and the member is paid.
2. Transparent Fee Split
Every fare is split the same way, and the split is shown on each gig:
- 85% Member Payout: The member's share of the fare.
- 15% Cooperative Fee: Retained by the cooperative as revenue, where it becomes part of the surplus that members can later receive back as patronage.
3. Ledger Postings & Payouts
Completing a gig posts Dr. Cash for the fare, Cr. Sales Revenue for the 15% fee, and Cr. Accounts Payable for the member's 85%. When you pay the member through your usual payment method, mark the payout as paid in OwnFold to record Dr. Accounts Payable, Cr. Cash. OwnFold does not send payouts to members itself.
